Default Tunnel Heating ?? Typical or extreme??

I have a 99 sp Coupe. I recently insulated the interior and back compartment to reduces noise, but I am still concerned that the heat I feel to the left side of the shifter is excessive. It is not so hot I can't touch it but it is hot enough that it can't be overlooked. Is this common in all or most C5's. Thanks.

Yes it is very common place and normal as the cats are right below the Console.

Supposedly the VnM Backbone helps this problem. Maybe someone with some personal experience with one of these will chime in...
