I spent the day on a couple of mods yesterday, Aluminum Gage Bezels, Shifter, and new boot. All went well except for shifter noise (Hurst) and I lost the function of my tachometer when I buttoned everything up. I went back and checked my electrical connectors and all is good. Everthing works but the tach. Is there a fuse that could have blown?
I hope that this is minor... Anybody got any ideas?
had this happen to me only the tach would quick working radomly when i was driving, i got pissed and smacked the dash and it started to work again.
but it would keep doing it and i had to keep hitting it, so i took everythign back apart took the electrical connections in the back apart and wiped them off w/ rubbing alchol and blew all the dust and crap out of the back.
I did disassemble and reseat the connectors to no avail. Everything is working but the tach... Is it possible I somehow shorted something? I am not getting any codes when I reset and push option and feul sequence. Anybody else have any thoughts?
My tachometer went out on me also. The computer threw no IPC codes indicating that the instument panel was bad, however, I did get a PCM code P0654, which is engine speed output circuit. After much trouble shooting from the dealer technician it came down to a bad instrument gauge cluster. That one cost me about $1K after all was said and done. I've had no problems since then with the new one. Hopefully you have something that is much easier and cheaper to fix. Good luck!
OK. Sat in the car last night scratching my head trying to figure the cause for this. Looked very carefully and noticed that the needle had somehow moved to the opposite side of the stop peg, despite my careful and cautious efforts. Took everything back apart and moved
the needle to correct side and problem is fixed! Should have seen this one sooner... Oh well, glad it is fixed.

now it works fine...
Search engine strikes again. Off all things, I smacked my dash, as I turned on the car, to fix my tach! We'll see where it goes from here. I think it was just stuck at the top. Thanks CF!
