Default Timing issues, please help.

My car seems to be pulling timing out in the low RPM range, 1200-2200. Upon acceleration there is a slight hesitation. This happens on hard or mild acceleration as well. Tech II and HPTuner information seems to show nothing out of the ordinary (except for a drop in timing on the low end). We are thinking it could be a bad knock sensor or one that is in too tight. Any help or thoughts on the subject would be appreciated. Everything points to a mechanical problem, not tuning.

Have you desensitized the knock sensors? Are you showing any knock at all, or just lower timing values?
