Time for my suspension upgrades. I went with the Bilstein adjustable shocks and LG spec coilover kit. I am also replacing the front & rear swaybars with Hotchkis bars which are rated in stiffness between the stock Z06 bars and the T1 racebars.....should be the perfect road racing set-up with awesome handling and high speed stability.
Big thanks to the Bobbi & the West Coast Corvette team for the excellent updates, pricing, and feedback throughout my purchase. Definitely the way I want my business handled! Check out the pics!
Hey Dave! Aloha from Virginia. Good to see you're making progress on the upgrades for your Z06. You will enjoy the Hotchkis Swaybars! I really like the improved handling I got when I made this upgrade. I've been considering the Bilstein adjustable shocks and LG spec coilover kit since I plan to participate in road racing and autocrossing events with the Corvette Club. I appreciate knowing how you like that upgrade, etc. Thanks, Mike

Was this built by LG, or ist just using his specs? Do you know which type of shocks these are? Do you have the spring rates?
Are the yellow bump stop rubber? Are they needed to save the shocks, or just to keep the wheel from hitting anything?
Sorry about all the questions. Good luck with the new suspension. I have coil overs, and am very happy with them.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to install helper springs? When you install the shocks, make sure that the springs cannot unseat (is that the right word?) with the wheel hanging down.
Whoa Till, those are some good questions....I'll answer what I can, but be forewarned I am no pro. I just buy the stuff and install it.
1) It was built by LG
2) Bilstein
3) No idea yet. I don't know how to convert from monospring rates to coil rates, so I jeft that to LG
4) Don't know if they're rubber....maybe very high durometer rubber. They seem almost like fiberglass.
5) I'm guessing they are needed to prevent the shock from bottoming out.
6) Helper springs? I haven't seen a kit for the C5 that comes with helper springs. I have seen the various kits from Tein, HKS, etc.. for the imports.
MJ, did you have the Z51 suspension to start? Was there a very noticeable gain with the Hotchkis bars?
No, I had the F45 Suspension and I can tell a huge difference. It rides a lot better even after lowering it with the Bilsteins. You still have to watch out for bumps but usually only the big ones because it is lowered and when you hit a bump you do feel it. Thanks to the Hotchkis sway bars I can take corners faster then I did before. Before it felt like the back end wanted to whip out from me when I was going kinda fast around curves.
Are the T1 bars usually too stiff for daily driving?
Next year is gonna be suspension mods on my car and I am contemplating a similar setup (coilovers) except maybe different shocks and swaybars.
What I heard, was that they were real stiff and a little on the noisy side. However the noise might have been due to loose endlinks or poor installation.

Some people said that the Hotchkis sway bars period made noise but mine have never made noise. A lot of people said that the people with noise didn't tighten them enough. The T-1 I beleive are the C5R sway bars or road racing sway bars. I was told they would be too rough for the street use by forum vendors.
In that case I would just assume everything is set up right.
I didn't know LG offers adjustable shocks. Are those one-way or two-way adjustables?
The **** close to the top of the shocks - is that where you adjust it? That would be very good, it would allow you to adjust the shock easily.

You can check easily if you need them. Adjust the ride height to where you want it. Put the car on the lift, and check if there is some tension left on the spring. If it is really loose, you may want to get a helper spring. Ask LG for the inner diameter of the springs (probably 2.25"), and order fitting helpers and the ring that goes between the two springs. The helper goes on top of the main spring. Parts are probably around $200.
