Default Need Help With Performance Upgrades

I own a 2000 coupe with the six speed trans. I have done nothing with the car since I bought it and think its time I make some performance modifications. I am wiilling to spend around $4000. I am looking for the most bang for the buck without having to tear down the engine. West Coast Corvettes has a stage III performance package for $3500. They claim it will give me up to 65 hp. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Do this:

- AFR Mongoose heads, cam, computer re program($3500 installed)
- Vara Ram intake ($325 - install yourself, 3 hours)
- Bilstein Shocks ($300 installed max)

I would realistically expect a 70 RWHP gain from that.

Later on, if you are in a state that allows the long tube headers shop around and add those ($1400.00 installed)

Add those headers in CONJUNCTION with the above and you can expect another 30 RWHP. The shorties suck ***** and are WAY overpriced for 10 HP. (yay for me and other people in Ca)

Next add larger sway bars (I suggest the GM series used for their showroom stock racing www.ecklers.com - $750 installed)

As the power increases, so does your need for suspension increase. I would imagine that killing yourself in a real fast car is no fun. So, I keep hinting at the suspension components.

Then do your X Pipe and Exhaust ($1,000.00 installed and good for, with everything else here, a good 20 RWHP)

If you're not happy at this point then you should have supercharged your car.

Other good adds are coil overs, better monosprings, short throw shifter, cags skip shift elim, new bulbs - headlights - and relay, Fast Intake, Air Power Duct (after you over 400 HP) - mixed reviews on Throttle Body and MAF.

LG off-road headers & x-pipe, Vararam, a cam and tuning should easily give you the power gains you're looking for. Spend the rest of the money on some used Z06 wheels that already have tires on it.
