Default Optima Battery Install - HELP !

I just purchased an Optima 75/35 ( SC75U ) battery for my car. I went to install it yesterday and ran into a problem. The factory hold down clamp would not grasp the bottom of the new battery. I tried several times thinking I may have done something wrong. There was no way this thing was going to tighten down on the base of this battery like it's supposed to. I hooked it up and it works just fine but, it is now sliding left to right within the battery tray. I called Optima customer service and they had absolutely no answers. Has anyone else ran into this same problem ? How do I fix it ?

It will work with the stock hold-down block - you just need to place it properly. Here's mine:

Now - Optima will send you a new better-fitting bracket if you tell them what you need. They sent me one for free a while back. here's what it looks like.

I just bought one as well and am having the same problem. Please post what you find out. I secured mine with a wrap around nylon belt I had laying around till I can find a better hold down. The factory one will clamp it down enough to atleast keep it in place but its definetly not super tight......I was glad to be rid of the OE battery though......

I had to remove the hold down to get mine in. Just unscrewed it all the way, put the batter in, and screwed the hold down back. I couldn't get it in without removing...

Mine is a 34/78, which is supposed to be the one for the C5 Corvette, and I got a hold down with it that is designed to fit properly.

On mine I had to jocky it around a bit to fit down in the tray. Try sliding it back towards the firewall so the front lip will set down in the tray properly. The hold down should work then.
