Depends on who you sell the car to. Removing cats is a sure fire way to bomb any emissions testing. If they live in a state w/ emissions laws they will need to put the cats back in. The smell from the unburned gas is noticeable. It will be a little louder w/o cats.
Hmmm I have little if any smell when the CATS are off (during off road events only of course) BUT I wll say there is little or no diff in powere when they are on or off - The FLP headers come with high flow CATS and swappable off road pipes so you can swap them out in 15 minutes with the off road pipes.
The car is louder without the CATS and does not sound as refinded... BTW I have the GHL's Magnums as well...
I've gone to a headers/xpipe/no cats set-up for my car, which is a mainly track driven '00 coupe. Still stealthy while cruising but sounds much better when accelerating. No gas smell with stock cam. RWHP is good at 345 w/ ported TB. Also lightened the car by at least 10lbs. When I did my exhaust I got a second center section, replaced the cats with a Dr Gas X-pipe and plugged the O2 bungs. Then I removed the original center section with the cats and set it aside to be reinstalled later if neccessary.
I had LT headers on mine with the cats and it sounded good. Took the cats off and wow. It was much louder. Put a big cam in and it screams don't mess with me! The only down side is that is smells pretty bad now. I only gained .05 at the track after removing the cats. That was before the cam.
I have Kook's with off road x, no cats, and don't have a problem at all. I really haven't even noticed that much of a gas smell, and i have a vert. As for hp, never been on a dyno, so I don't know. It is, however, quieter than stock while cruising, and absolutely rips at WOT. The sound is great! I have ti exhaust. Later.
