You need a strong magnet and you need to search for the tire sensor training process, it's on the forum somwhere.
Good luck. Jeff

The 2003 tire pressure sensors are not compatible with your 97. GM changed the tire pressure sensors in 2001. So any 1997 - 2000 sensor will work with your car, but not a 2001+ sensor. All of the tire pressure sensors will fit on C5 wheels, but you will be unable to train them to work wit h your car if you have the wrong type of sensor.

Sensor Learning Procedure:

With the wheels mounted and the car on the ground:

Turn ignition to ON position.

Press the DIC RESET button to clear any warning messages.

Press the DIC OPTIONS button until the display goes blank.

Press and hold the DIC RESET button for 3 seconds.

Press the DIC OPTIONS button again until the "TIRE TRAINING" message appears.

Press the DIC RESET button until the message, "LEARN L FRONT TIRE" appears.

Hold the magnet(s) over the pressure sensor’s location on the LEFT FRONT wheel (this should be next to the valve stem sides if installed correctly).

When the horn honks, programming is complete for that wheel.
Program the other 3 wheel sensors as directed by the message display. The sequence is as follows: Left Front, Right Front, Right Rear, Left Rear.

For more information, refer to the Corvette Service Manual, page 3-114: Low Tire Pressure Sensing—TPM Sensor Programming.

Part Numbers: For '97-00 you'll need four each of the following: sensor PN 10438853, retaining nut PN 10268439, and O-ring washer PN 10268438. These are the same for all four wheels.

In 2001, GM went to an FM bandwidth sensor, with the following part numbers: sensor with O-ring PN 25731358; and retaining nut PN 25708165.

Hope this help.

I had to laugh at myself walking around the car holding a 10 inch speaker up to each wheel. And the crowd wondering what the heck I was doing.
