OK, I installed the Euro Lights with the High intensity harness from PFYC this past July. The lights are very bright and I love them.
My problem is: If I shut off the vehicle before the headlights the lights shut off but the doors stay open! I have to restart the car then turn the **** on wait about two seconds then shut them off, this is when the doors go down. With the engine running I have not problem up & down like normal.
There were no instructions with the harness, but it looked pretty simple. The main power I pulled from the terminal on the fuse box (constant hot) and the ground to a frame bolt. It is not rocket science.
I tried it with just the key in the on position, up but not down.
I contacted them when I got back to from the ZFEST.
They said they were going to look into it, they they said that they were going to get the harness manufacturer to send me a fix. Waited another month, well about 2 weeks ago I get a box with a whole new harness.
After I installed the new harness, it worked for a couple of times and stopped. I tried a relearn, thought maybe the computer could not see the new harness or something.
It appeared to work.
I do not drive the car that much, the other night I went to a dinner meeting and when I got home I shut the car down and again the doors stayed open.
What confuses me is why does it work sometimes then stops.
I have the same upgrade package, and have same issue. Mine is erratic as well. I have found that when the lights are acting up, if you put the high beams on, it will then allow the lights to go down. This works with or w/o power on, for some reason.
This is certainly not a fix, but a simple work around. Since this is two of us now, than others have prolly seen this. Any electrical gurus figure this one out yet?
I have a home-made setup, but it's likely the same issue. The problem, I think, is the car has a bulb-out feature. In other words, with your stock system, if you have a headlight bulb go out, the car "tells" you this by leaving the assembly upward.
So, when we went to this upgraded system, it is not seeing the same resistance that it expects. I was told that somewhere there is a resistor value that we can locate and put across the relay, and then it would work, but I searched the archives and could not find that resistor value.
In the meantime, I just flick my lights to bright and then turn them off. That always works, which I guess means the burn out feature does not include the bright lights.
Flicking the headlights only works so long. I had the same problem, i made a plug from one of the old light bulbs to fit in the low beam on the other side( the one that is unpluged )and i wired it to a resister( .47 ohms-radio shack its white about 3/4" long 1/4 square) on the positive side and then to a 4 pole relay#85 pole. Then the other wire ( neg. )from the headlight plug goes directly to #86 pole. You could put the resister in the harness you have already but this way is simpler i thought. You could leave this pluged in but i have found if you put it on and turn your headlights on and off a couple times and then take it off the headlights will work normal for 2-3 months good luck walt
Whew, I'm glad it's something apparently simple and basic, as I've had this occur a few times. I figured that it may have been something I did during the install of the upgraded harness. Since it didn't happen for awhile after the install, it confused me a good bit. It's pretty sporadic, too. From another posting, I had thought it may be the plastic gears for the headlight motor. I'll keep this in mind the next time it ocurs!
PFYC mailed a plug-in resistor to me around a year ago when I installed the lights and had this problem, no charge, just an apology.
I wonder why they didn't send you one? It took a minute to install it in the harness between power and right light (came with instructions) and has worked like OEM ever since.
Maybe give em a call back and ask for plug in resistor?
I too have this same problem - at first I thought there was something I did that was wrong with the install, and have been trying to identify what I could have done wrong. They should let everyone know about this problem and send out the fix if that is all that it takes.

Can Not call them no Number, they want everything through email.

Sorry, should have said "contacted them," it's been so long I can't recall. I do remember that I was scratching my head after install, as the buildup/resistance in the harness causes the problem to be sporadic, very frustrating.
Anyone interested, I recommend going with the 90/130 H4 bulbs, as our cars are so low I haven't had anyone flash highs at me when I'm running the 90 lows. 130s are definitely bright.
I sent an email to PFYC and got a reply back in about 10 minutes. Kevin was very helpful and is sending the resistor plug. They've obviously upgraded their wiring harness to address this problem. When we determined that I had the old one, he replied back stating he'd left a message for the manufacturer to send me the fix.
I emailed as well and got fast reply. Sounds good to me.
Here is their response.
Anyone who bought our headlight kit (high wattage) is entitled to a free
"fix" that is 100% plug and play that should take care of the problem.
I posted this over a year ago on the Z06 board, but not on the Corvette
Forum since we did not have vendor posting rights there until just
recently. Anyone who has this problem can simply send us the following
information (e-mail to info@pfyc.com):
1) Original PFYC order number
2) Full name and current address
We will verify the original order and have a free "fix" module sent.
It's that simple. We stand behind our products and all it takes to get
help from us is a simple e-mail. I guess some people are used to
dealing with other companies where you buy something and then you are on
your own. Not so with us!
Thanks for all of your help guys. Hope this solves the issue for all.
I called Casper's Electronics today (they make the harness) and spoke with Justin. He said he did not know why I had not been sent the "FIX" yet because it is a stock item.
