Does anyone have any feedback on the (Fast LSX 78MM Intake Manifold) is it worth 800.00 or is it a waste of money. I'm just looking for some little mods to do without spending too much. I allready have headers, gears, exhuast & computer programming. My car is a 2001 coupe 6 speed.
with the new LS2 intake avaialble and the creative work being done to adapt it to the LS1 I would hold off for a short while until we see what happens. the LS2 intake will cost much less and a complete kit will be about equal in pricing to the Fast intake alone. Or spend the $1600 for your Intake and Throttle body now.
I installed the intake along with Headers, Xpipe, high flow cats, so I don't have an exact back to back dyno comparison with the Ls1 intake to the LsX intake. However, seat of the pants feel right after installing the intake was definitely noticeable. I believe the Ls1 intake has limitations once you're hitting the 450+ hp flywheel and above. My .02

IMO the FAST 78mm would not be a wise purchase for your set up. I have had both the 78mm and 90mm on my car. Although the 90mm's performance , with the right TB, was impressive the fitment and construction of both suck. The 78mm has a common whistling noise which is very irritating. If you have $800.00 to spend you should be able to come up with some more appropriate mods like a Vararam Intake and a Shaner TB. Then go back to your tuner and have them tweak the tune some more.
You're kinda at the point with mods where it starts to get very expensive. I would skip the 78 mm TB and wait for the LS2 or put the $800 towards a cam.
