Ok,, I just have to add my non technical opinion,,,(I know this is a tech section).. The stock tunnel plate is a flimsy piece, cant really see how it does much but reflect a little heat. By installing EITHER the aluminum or ss versions, I believe it has to help eliminate flex. SO, why so much debate, If it works, so be it. Let the masses decide if they want coated, ss or alum. Let them decide on the price they want to pay. Some of us cant afford, or simply think 300 bucks is too much. As for corroding away, I really doubt if the piece will, heck, I have uncoated aluminum slotted wheels on my old homebuilt trash tailer that came off a 72 pinto (yes, a pinto) and they have lasted for over 30 years setting outside in a field,,still look pretty good....I personnaly think some are just going a wee to far trying to say one is better than the other. SS might be stronger, alum lighter, both gotta be better than stock
