If they aren't as quiet as the stock gears, then something is wrong with them. My 4.10's are as quiet as my 3.42's were.

I used to have 4:10's in my car, but due to a whine at over 60 mph I had to have them replaced. I had East Coast Supercharging change them to the 3:90's. They are as quiet as a church mouse. My car has 97,500 miles on it. Just got back from Ocean City Maryland, because I do a lot of HWY and country backroads......the 3:90's suit me fine

Mine are a little louder than stock, but not by much. I didn't even notice until a month or two after I had them installed.

ECS installed my 3.90's...real quiet and real SOTP noticeable over the stock 3.42's.

I got my 4.10s from COH and - I think it was John - told me it was very
important to break the gears in (Heat Cycles) properly which is a key
factor on how much noise you'll get. I did the break-in just as he
instructed and did an extra heat cycle for good measure. I recall hearing
a bit of a whine with the radio off, but John said that was to be expected.
But after I added the Stingers (let alone the headers and cam), no more
whine!!!

l also want to swap out for some 3.90's, and a local mechanic suggested to raise the rev limiter. I have never heard of this.

No reason to touch your pcm by swapping in gears on a M6 car. Ls1 edit adjustments only need to be made on A4 cars with gears for shift points. Local mechanic is WRONG if he thinks raising the rev limiter is a necessity on your stick car!!!

If you break them in properly you shouldn't have any noise problems at all. I have a set of 4:10's in mine.....did the break in....no noise.
