When I purchased one of these units for my 99 coupe it came with a GM adapter. One end plugged into the stock wiring harness right above the mount under the molding. The other end plugged into the unit. I didn't have to splice or cut anything. The mirror was not purchased from GM or a dealer but from e-bay. Based on the mirror I purchased you should be able to go to your dealers parts department and buy the adapter.

Thanks for the information. This mirror also has the map lights w/compas and temp. I purchased this mirror from Americansecurity.com.

There are other versions of this mirror w/out the map lights. This is the same mirror that is on all GM top of the line vehicles. Made by Gentex.
