Default problem with blinkers...

only the front ones will not blink.
nor will they work as DRL's, but they will work if the headlights are on.
The rear ones work fine, but blink fast.

Since they work with the lights up, the bulbs are fine. I'm not showing any codes, and all the associated fuses are good.
It happened after I got done washing it.

any ideas?

Could both relays have crapped out at once?

Maybe posting about which direction to wax the car would have gotten you more replies as well?? j/k...

These type of problems are very hard to figure out without a Tech II... so if you dont get any answers... it could be because no one knows what is wrong without all the diagnostic equipment.

I have a similar prob... and it cured it self after washing the car. And I still dont know what the problem was because I have an appointment at the dealer for tues... if the problem does not come back, it will do me no good to keep it.

Best of luck to you on this prob.. best advice would be hookup a tech II and see WTF is going on with the car.

OK, I'll bite...

You say the rears blink fast, that usually means one or more lamps has a blown filiment.

You also say they work when the lights are on. Do you mean as blinkers or marker lights? If as a marker then you could have a blown filiment or a poor connection to the lamp(s)

Do they blink with your flasher?

These may sound like stupid questions, but the hope is, it will point to the cause

I may be guessing here, but aren't there 2 filaments in those bulbs - one lower intensity and one higher? It sounds like one of the filaments may be blown while the other is still working, and I'm guessing the brighter one is bad or water got into the socket and it is not making a good connection any longer...

cool thanks... anyone got a bulb #? (I know it's in the manual, but can't get to it now. I want to call around)

the only work as markers with the lights on.... does this mean that both bulbs blew filaments at the simultaneously?

It does sound strange that both of them would go out at the same time, but that is the easiest place to start looking. If I remember correctly you said this happened after you washed your car so if the bulbs were warm and you hit them with cold water, that could have caused it, or you could have gotten water into something that caused fuses to blow. The circuits that handle the blinker are different than the ones that power the DRLs, so maybe you could also go through the fuses for those functions. If that doesn't fix it you'll need to explore a wiring problem somewhere - no offense intended but most owners would not have the skills to diagnose this type of problem easily. Wiring is (in some cases) harder to figure out than women are....

Looks like some new bulbs are next on the list then, unless you know how to use a multimeter to check for voltage at the connectors....
