Help identifying this differential
I came across this ad on ebay. Can some one tell me if there is a way to be sure this is actually a 3.42 rear end?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true
Thanks in advance!

Ask the seller to get you a good pic of that GETRAG label, I believe it says on there, looks like 3.42 to me but I just cannot be sure.

The Getrag tab on there says 1=3.42, however whether it is from a Z06 or a 6sp C5 I cannot tell. The Z06 gears are better as they are shot peened for added durability and performance.

if I remember correctly, the Z06 carriers tag says
1=3.42sp or 3.42s
there is a part number on the tag as well.
PN: 12551769 is for the non-Z06 3.42.
PN: 12572683 is the Z06 3.42

Thanks Mike, I can actually make out the part number, its the non-Z06. What do you think a fair price is for this part?

if the ad is 100% truthful, then at least $400 - to maybe $600. ???????????
Used part prices are sometimes tough to determine. A brand new Getrag 3.42 (non Z06) unit sells for $1000.
