Default New Battery Install Questions

I’m installing a new battery tonight in my '01 coupe (Optima red top 75/35). I’ve done this many times on other cars, but with all the computers and electronics on the vette I have 2 questions:

1. Any special prep I should do before disconnecting old battery?
2. After installing the new battery, what (if any) reprogramming will I have to do (FOB’s, tire sensors, radio, DIC options, etc.)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

1). No.
2). If your radio is locked---you'll have to enter the unlock code for it to play, once the new battery is connected.

The add-on plastic mounting base for the Red Top sucks. Your factory mount will hold the base still, but the battery can bounce upward out of the base.

Default battery

Optima makes a battery hold down that has a curved some what like a crescent moon that fits around the center cylinder of the battery and has " 78 series " stamped on the hold down, I put a 34/78 series battery in my Z and found out about this hold down later. You want to be sure your battery is held down tight, you don't want it bouncing around in the car. Check with Optima, none of the local auto parts dealers knew what I was talking about, even the battery shop I got my Optima from didn't know anything about this hold down. Check with Optima.

Just finished installing the Optima. I bought it at Autozone ($109). I asked the salesperson "does it come with any additional adapters?" He said "no, you do not need anything". I said "are you sure, I looked at the Optima web site and saw an optional bottom adapter". He then went back to his shelf of goodies and produced a bag of adapters for me which included some bottom hold downs for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, etc; and a replacement bottom hold down which I used to replace the stock GM bottom piece which bolts on to the stock battery tray. It fits the optima battery much better than the stock GM bottom adapter, and the battery is quite secure. I cannot budge it vertically or sideways with the replacement piece in place.

RoHo - I think it is the same crescent piece you are referring to since Optima's website states:
OPTIMA® GROUP 34/78
The optional puck adapter is required for most GM installations where the side terminals are used.Position the puck against the center cylinder of the battery and bolt to the battery tray as shown.
