Default 99' coupe A4 track time

Ive ran the car at the track about 5 times and each time i have shifted it myself each time. Ive read on here that other people are running around 13.5 - 13.8 at 103 -105 .... i have the 2:73 gears and i run 13.8 at 104. Whats the best way to get my track time down ?

I wish this would have been my first mod. Although I want to keep my 3.15 i think a high stall converter will give you the quickest solution to a fast ET. You are about right on your ET, practice might help some buy not much

Let the car shift itself. You can't shift better than General Motors.

Put the gear selector in 3, put the car in competitive mode.

If you really are serious about running better times then the 2.73s will eventually have to be replaced with 3.42s or better

I have 3.42's on 2000 A4 coupe. Run: 13.2/ 107. I use BFG (much used) drag radials on 17 inch rims at 18psi. My 60' times are 2.0 to 2.3.Yes, I know, an old lady can get off her rocker quicker than I can get off the line. Still think I am spinning the tires on the line. Will go with long tubes and 2800 TQ convertor. We will see then.

Most of the responses are good.....

But it's a no brainr that mods will get you faster..

He wants to know how to get his times btter compared to other stock 2.73 a4's......

What temp are you running in...

Whats your tracks altitude.......

Unless your running in 100 degree weather or at a high altitude your times are slower than the average.....

A good driver in good weather with geat track prep can hit a 13.3 (few do better)

I run 13.5 in a DA 0f roughly 1300 give or take little weather it's a nice kool 77 degrees (hawaii weather) or a hot 85 degree night...

Thats a 13.3 in 60 degree weater......So it cn be done and has by many people on this board...

Usualy the slowest 2.73 will run in good conditons is 13.7....

13.4-13.6 seems to be the average....

So you only need to drop about two tenths....

Take the abov posted advice about putting the car in 3rd and in competition mode....

This and practice will dropp you atleaste another tenth or more..

GOOD LUCK.

Competiton mode. Hold the AH button for 5 seconds and Competition mode will display on your DIC. Now you have Active Handling on and Traction Control off. That way if you spin the computer will not shut the engine power down. But your vehicle can still use the computer to control your brakes to keep you going straight down the track if needed.

Your welcome. I run in third, competative driving mode. With my car the best technique is too not load the engine. Just foot on brake and punch it on the third yellow. I have a 03 coupe A4 3.15 rear end. I have found the vette to be a very consistant bracket racer. Best car I ever owned.
