Default Cam Chain Dampener Help

I ordered the 04 LS1 Cam Chain Dampener (part 12588670) for my 02 engine. The bolt hole centers are spaced at under two inches on this part, while on my 02 block, the holes are a little over two inches apart. I do not think GM would have changed the hole spacing, so did I receive a wrong part?. It came form GMPartsDirect in an unmarked package. (This part was $8.00 while the GM High Performance part was more like a $100.) But it needs to fit to do me any good. Does anyone have an 04 part they could measure?

Thanks

The part info I have on the dampener that others have posted here is from GM Parts Direct:

GM PART # 88958607
CATEGORY: Belt or Chain, Engine Timing
DESCRIPTION: DAMPENER
GM LIST: $117.30
OUR PRICE: $82.11

This was posted by a forum member here who had installed it and posted pics of it back in June. I'm not sure if that was on a C5R block though.

I have brand new one in the package sitting here that I would sell you.
It's GM part #88958607.
Hole spacing is 2.20" comes with instructions on drilling holes in block if they aren't already there.
Let me know if you want it

You most likely got a SBC dampener, not an LSX one. The one that is about $100 form GM Performance parts has fit every time for us on all of the 01+ blocks so far!

Guys;

got the right info on LS1Tech forum. The part I ordered (12588670) is the $8.00 part that comes stock on 04 LS1 and LS2. GM CHANGED the hole spacing in 04. It will not fit my 02. The 88958607 does but cost around $100. Below is hole spacing. Thanks for the offer to sell one of the 88958607 parts but I just buttoned up the front.

12588670 = narrow black 1.762
88958607 = tan (older) 2.187
