Well I got my FLP4 tranny working great and shifting awesome. Well today, I was leaving the bank making a left hand turn and start getting a pinging sound from my right rear tire area. I get home and jack it up to see if anything was touching the wheel and no luck it is not going to be a simple fix. Heres what it sounds like:
Going from park to drive or reverse I get a thud but it is in gear! Driving less than 10 miles and hour I cant hear the pinging sound coming from the wheel. At 11mph it starts pinging right behind the passenger seat. It gets louder and louder the faster I go, I apply the brakes and it is still pinging. It sounds like a piece of metal on the tire. So it is not the brakes. The problem is in the right half shaft or the differenial.

Anybody have this problem before?
Interesting...
Have you contacted FLP about the thud? there are several things that can cause that. 1st there is little spring clip in the bottom or back of the case. And then if possibly they left out a wave plate and instead installed a regulat steel plate. Or there is an issue with line pressure. Did this trans come with a vaccum modulator. I know the 4L60E has a line pressure solenoid but, trans go makes a replacement vaccum modulator kit. just a few ideas on the thud.
As for the pinging, I would check to make sure the exhaust isn't contacting anything. maybe at certain engine load or rpm there is enough vibration to make it tap on something somplace. just an idea.

Cscollis- glad you found your problem
VetteTech81- FLP uses the vacuum modulator on their transmissions
