A friend installed the G5X3 cam in his 2002 Z06 this past weekend.
He went to Dallas to get tuned today, and just called me...
Only pulled 340 rwtq and 363 rwhp.
Obviously there is a problem. Trying to get some ideas while he drives back from Dallas.
He says the timing set allows for 8 degrees manual advance / retard during install. Does it sound like it accidentally was? I'm thinking this is the best possibility.

If not what are the other possibilities? Thanks.
Hi,
Who did the install, and who did the tune? What else does he have done to the car? It sounds like the cam is in wrong? What brand of timing gear did he use? (if he advanced it 8 degrees, he might have other problems now.
Ok, he pulled the valve covers and found a pushrod off a rocker. Here's his latest update, and a new problem:
"Okay I found a pushrod on cylinder 8 had come off the rocker arm. This must have happened on the initial startup as we heard a pop. The pushrod was wedged between the rocker and head so it wasn't even contacting the lifter which is why we didn't hear any strange noises. The valve was constantly closed! So I basically had my car tuned on 7 cylinders and made 363 rwhp.
Onto my new problem.
I went on a 1 mile test drive and the car ran terrible. I had to stop because I smelled smoke. As it turns out the cats were cherry red (LG Random 3"). I let it cool down and limped home but they were red again when I got back. Any ideas what my new problem is? I don't THINK it's clogged cats because they were fine before I fixed the bad cylinder. Any advice is appreciated."
If he left 4 wires off the tuner should have noticed that when the car was throwing misfire codes up the wazoo. I know they ls1/6's pick up knock from the cam but still.

I think it was a joke............... are you for real or jok'n back?
The car was dyno tuned with the rocker arm/pushrod problem (G5X3 112 on stock headed Z06). I'm not sure why the tuner didn't notice a misfire on #8. I got the car home, found the rocker arm problem and repaired it.
In the process of putting everything back together I got distracted and left 4 plug wires off the passenger coil packs. When I drove it I was dumping fuel from those cylinders into the cats and making them red hot. The plug wires are now on and the car runs like a champ.
Thanks to LG for calling me and working through my problem. For the record, LG did not do the tuning.
