Check engine light stays on
I had new tires put on today, and the check engine light came on during the drive home. I checked for codes when I got home, and it showed P0171 and P0174. These are: fuel trim system lean bank 1-B & bank 2-B. What does this indicate?

I would check all the connections on your intake, make sure they are tight. Sounds like unmetered air is getting into the intake between the MAF and the throttle body. Is your gas cap on tight? Have you installed an after market intake system recently? Check all the obvious stuff first, clear the codes and see what happens. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Same thing happen to me. After I park my car, I check my gas cap and it's loose just sitting on top of the filler. I re-tighten it and reset the code = check engine light is off.

I checked my gas cap, and it was ok. I checked the air filter and all connections and they looked good. I cleared the codes and the light is off, but I 've only driven it about 25 miles.
