I am swapping the differential in my 00 Vert from a 2.73 to a 3.42. It is an A4 car. Do you guys think I should invest in a hardened output shaft while I have the differential out or is this really necessary?
2000 coupe: went from 2.73 to 3.42: did hardened shaft: no extra charge for labor, just part cost- should have done tqc as well as I am about to do that now: try to get an idea of where you want to go with mods so that you can cut down on labor
I would, it's an ounce of prevention and will give you piece of mind if nothing else. My motor is stock, running 3.73 gear with the hardened shaft. Bob
I know what you mean. Seems the stock output shaft operates a "fuseable link". If you eliminate it's ability to give... then something else takes over the task as the fuseable link.
