Timing- Is it worth advancing or not

Timing- Is it worth advancing or not
Just wanted to get some opinions. I here 2 to 3 degrees additional yeilds a few HP. I have a basically stock 99 with the typical boltons...

I assume you are talking about spark timing not cam timing?
Usually advancing the timing some will result in some more power but it isn't just that simple as two or four degrees across the board. Most people will monitor the car with some sort of scanning software and then add some timing and see how the car reacts. Some cars like more timing... others less. Basically most will push the timing to the point of knock and then backoff maybe a degree or two. There are also other tables that the car uses to add/remove timing and those should be modified at the same time. Without some sort of scan tool just adding timing isn't the way to go IMHO.
