Default AFR H/C dyno : Video

I finally got my h/c project finished. We took the car over to TTP in Saddle Brook for a little tuning. We ended up with some really nice numbers for what we did. 413rwhp, 396rwtq. Through 4:10's cats, and mufflers.
The car before h/c had a VaraRam, p&p TB, LS6 manifold, 28.8lb injectors, Kooks w/HF cats, Kooks xpipe, Corsa Indy's, Spec Stage 3 w Aluminum fw, 4:10 gears, hardened output shaft. And I changed the rod bolts to ARP Pro's a little while ago.

We added a set of AFR 205's milled .010" mounted on Cometic .040" MLS gaskets, Comp 224/228 .581"/.588" 112 lsa @ +2, Comp 850 lifters, TR 7.400 hardended pr's, Harland Sharp 1.7 rockers, ported LS6 oil pump, JWIS timing chain, ASP UD pulley, and flowmatched 30lb/hr SVO injectors.

I only had to clearance the heads behind the rockers to get them to fit but with the beefy valve cover shoulders there was no issue.

Here is a short video of 3 of the runs. The first we didn't take it up that high because we wanted to check for things like float, etc. The next two were to 6800 rpm. I was able to get my AFR dead on at 13:1.

All I can say is the car is a really mean street machine when I want it to be and it is easy to drive when I want to cruise. Low end torque is amazing. I can pull np all the way from 1200 rpm in 4th, to 6th with no lugging. Gas mileage has improved to 34.5 mph (at 60mph on flat level road) even with the 4:10's. It has a nice little lope at idle to keep the rice away. I feel I have acomplished exactly what I wanted with this h/c package. I didn't want a race car, but I wanted a street car I could race. Thanks to Tony @ AFR for the help and suggestions, and to Brian, Trevor, and Jason from TSP for answering all my questions and accomodating me changing my order 3 times and still getting it right, And to Matt, George, and Nick at TTP for all the help and suggestions at the tune. Check out the video.

blazeone, I am happy with the Spec 3, but not thrilled. I have had balance issues with it since it was installed. They since have been rectified to my satisfaction, but it is not gone. A friend of mine installed a LUK Gold series with Fidanza aluminum flywheel. It is just great. Smooth a silk, no vibration, and grabs like crazy.

TTP is great. I plan on doing more business with them in the future. It's apparent that they love what they do. They take the extra time that is necessary sometimes to solve a problem. The other guy at the beginning of the video has a 2002 Z06 and he was impressed enough that day to book a cam install.
BTW, even though it's much easier to get sideways now, I keep the TC on when driving on the street.

He was there that day and we actually did his car before mine. He was putting down 415rwhp and 396rwtq. He did AFR 205's milled .024 on Cometic .040" gaskets, 224/228 .581".588" 114LSA + 1, Z06 injectors, TSP hardened 7.400" pushrods, Rollmaster single chain, stock lifters, and rockers. He is running a stock rear end (3:42.1) and the LUK package. He put down 415rwhp and 396rwtq. We probably could have gotten another 5hp because his AFR went a little rich above 6000 and the cam was getting going at that time. He had done about 8 pulls up to that point and didn't want to do any more and also wanted to keep it around 12.5 up top.

Here's the way I look at it. I could put the 3:42's back in = 433rwhp. Take out the cats = 438rwhp. take off the heads and mill another .014" = 448rwhp. take out the cam and put in the 114+1 and give up some low end torque = 455rwhp. Lean out the AFR to 13.5:1 = 460rwhp. Then I could put on a port matched LSX with 90mm TB = 485 rwhp. Let's add an elec water pump = 493 rwhp. I have heavy wheels (rears wheigh 63lbs each w/ tires), I could put a set of factory speedlines on or CCW's = 503rwhp? I could put a blackwing on instead of the VaraRam (better numbers on the dyno) 507rwhp. Put the 4:10's back in = 487rwhp.
What I probably am going to do will be in the spring will be to remove the heads and have them milled the extra .014" to bring up the compression and when I do that I will add an LSX & NW 90mm and port match it with the heads off or an LS2 and TB depending on what that setup has yet to reveal.

I am looking at this as a work still in progress so yes, I am very happy with the results I have gotten so far.
