I posted this in the Pacific region area but if someone near Monterey/San Jose wants to split a 5 gallon jug with me let me know. The shipping/hazard fee is cheaper with the 5 gallons but I can't use or store 5 gallons since I don't drive the car that much. Let me know.
JB any chance of you bringing some to Formosa on Dec 4. Yes, I am a cheap **** and trying to avoid the shipping/hazard fees. Thanks,
I too have personally witnessed cars experiencing KR (Knock Retard) on the dyno make significantly more power just pouring some Torco in the tank and watching the KR disappear and the power curve smooth out.
See ya in Bakersfield....I'm thinking even "pussyfooting" it out of the hole your car should be good for like 130+ MPH trap speed!

I might be interested JB. What benefits can I expect?
Torco is one very effective, cost efficient and convenient way to raise your octane. If you have a stock car which has no knock retard, then Torco would do you no good except on a very hot day when the motor is very warm and the car might be pulling a bit of timing. In that case it would allow you to preserve your HP, but not pick any addition HP up.
In the case where One is modifying there car and putting a custom tune on it, Torco WILL allow you to run more timing and make more HP for that reason. Like any high octane fuel, Torco will prevent KR and allow you to maitain a more agressive tune.
Thanks,
JB

--Joel, thanks for taking the time and expense of doing this test.
--I use Torco and think it is a good product that has allowed me to run more timing than usual on my blown LS1 and has given me peace of mind in the hot weather
...but, your analysis shows that Torco changes the octane from 91 to 96.5, an increase of 5.5 octane points. At the mixture you tested, which is equivalent to 10 gallons unleaded : 1 quart of Torco, does not Torco claim a octane point increase of 11 (93 super unleaded increases to 104 octane unleaded when 10 gallons of unleaded 93 is mixed with 1 quart ot Torco). This is an eleven (11) point increase - twice what your test results showed. Did I get something wrong? Comments?
Thanks for the info, JB. The Torco worked great in my Vortech supercharged vette as I drove west and couldn't get anything higher than 91 octane at the pump.
I've been running with Torco and like it. I am running it with Sunoco 94. They had to remove the headers when the new clutch was installed so I had them replace the plugs while they were at it. Like the exhaust stains the old spark plugs had a rust brown hue. The shop never saw that before and I figure it is from the Torco additive. Is that what everyone else is experiencing?
I was using Torco for a few months and when my plugs were changed at header install they had the brown color.
Torco got rid of all my ping/knock with just 1/2 of 1 can per full tank!!
Definately good stuff!!
Joel...redo your math. Using Torco is even CHEAPER than your comparison...because you have an extra quart total of feul. So you would you would have to buy an additional 60 cents of 91 octane to mix with the 100 octane. Plus most people don't have it available and those that do will have to drive farther (expend more feul/$) to get it!!

Thanks,

If you go back and look at what the Research octane was, it is 101.2.
This is just over 10 points. Maybe that's what Torco is making their claims off, or with 93 it's a bit higher. All I know is what I got from the test. It does what it does and is still a very good product. Even at 5.5 points over base, it is still more cost effective then mixing 100 octane.
I'll keep putting it in every tank,
JB

Excellent news! A friend of mine tried Torco a while back in his single turbo Supra and reported much lower EGTs during high speed driving, although he never dyno tested. I, on the other hand, dyno every time I get a new mod and will be buying some Torco myself to see exactly what it does for my car!
Flammable is flammable. What's the difference between flammable torcho and flammable toluene? Torcho is flammable I assume. I use "paint thinner" in my C5 all the time.

Q: Whats the difference between "Torcho" and "Paint Thinner"?
A: 3.3 gallons of product per tankfull.
Purchasing, storing and administering that much Toluene (notice how I spelled that right) would be a very big PITA... so not only does Torco work, I can carry six pac "case" of 32 oz cans in the trunk if I went on a long trip. One would have to carry 11.4 gallons of paint thinner to obtain the same results. That doesnt leave much room for luggage does it.... Not to mention the extra weight... I think you get the idea here..
So where's the loudmouth who said it couldn't possibly work because she didn't understand how it could and polluted every thread discussing Torco ? Or maybe now that lab results are in she'll just
