Questions about High octane fuel....
i found a gas station here in south Florida that sells high octane fuel...between 100 to 130 octane...
i was thinking that if i put high octane fuel my car would run better...
BUT:
-will i damage my car putting high octane fuel in it?
-if not, what kind of grade is optimal?
-will the increment of performance be relevant and worht to pay 7$ a gallon?
my car is stock...just cat and x pipes..
any help?

generally speaking 93 octane will be perfect..you need higher octane to control predetonation.. the ingredients to increase octane actually cause a loss of hp... but predetonation causes a greater loss.So if you have no preignition at 93 octane using a higher octane will be counter productive on a stock motor. Higher compression motors could benifit because of Knock retard by higher octane..

You want the minimum octane with out knock. Anything above that is a waste of money and a few ponys.

I ran my car at the track with mostly 100+ octane gas in the tank and my car slowed down by .3 and 4 MPH in the 1/4 mile.

Also Europe uses a single octane rating method that makes their numbers higher. A rough rule of thumb is to take about 5 octane points off of European numbers to compare to ours.
