Let's you know if the computer software for your car has a new update. This way you can keep upto date and make sure your car's computer has all the latest software. This is done to address known problems or to upgrade to an improved software package.
Hope this helps!

one thing to remember unless your car is under warranty the dealer will charge you to do the up date unless it is a safety recall

Are the performance parameters lost during this re-flashing of the PCM? For modded vettes this would not be a good thing.

Yes, If you have aftermarket programming such as LS1 Edit, it will be gone if the dealer re-flashes

Damn! Now that is sweet. I have been having issues with my fuel gauge sometimes showing empty immediately after filling up. Have to turn her off and on a few times to get it to register. Wonder if the O/S update for erratic fuel gauge will fix that.
Anyone have any idea how much a dealer charges to do these updates?

$60/$80 depends on hourly rate in your area
