Well this is the deal if I keep my stock security system on and dont start the car for a few days the battery will go dead. If I leave it off its fine. I am at a lost for words on this one any advice on what could be causing this to happen.
I have heard that the stock security system and the radio's Security Lock feature will drain the battery sooner than if they are not enabled, but not within a few days.
The first thing I would check is the battery itself. If it has a bad cell and marginally going bad it could drain quicker than normal. Run a load test on the battery and see if it loses charge - any battery service center should be able to do that real quick. It's like a voltmeter with an impedance load.
yea it shouldnt do that ive left my car for 2 weeks sitting and its fine, go out of town alot lol, its probably ur battery, or posibly ur charging system , just go to an autoparts store and they will test it for free like autozone or advanced auto or whatever.
Thanks guys that was going to be my first step in troubleshooting the prob... I have a optma red top which is a good battery not cheap eather...I will post again if i cant figure it out..
You mention this happens if you keep your stock security system on. I wouldn't even know how to turn mine off.
Do you have another after market system, or something else that might be draining the battery?
Just dont use the FOB to lock your car, either lock the door with the inside lock before closing the door or use the key. Either way your alarm will not be activated.
