I successfully completed front and rear pad and rotor replacement on my C5 yesterday and I wanted to thank all of the Forum members for their information and support to give me the confidence to do the job. Things went very smoothly, with the most difficult part being getting the old rotors off. Really had to bang on 'em with a mallet to get loose. The 21 mm bracket bolts were much easier to break loose and torque than I thought it was going to be. I used a breaker bar on these bolts and it was pretty easy.
I also did lift the car onto four jackstands and it was very stable and seemed quite safe for this procedure.
Anyway, thanks for all of the support and encouragement.
Be careful on autocross. C5s oil pan wasnt designed for major side to side action and it can cause oil starvation when taking hard sharp turns.
thats what ive heard, not sure if its true :o
Be careful on autocross. C5s oil pan wasnt designed for major side to side action and it can cause oil starvation when taking hard sharp turns coz the oild tends to shift all the way to one side of the pan.
