For those who've had this kit installed in their A4, how long did it take?? I was going to have my local dealer do it on my 2000, and they said they would have to drop the trans resulting in about 13.5 hours labor!!!!!
I could have sworn I've read on here multiple times that the install takes about 2 hours.
I thought they just had to drop the pan....not the whole trans???
I'm possibly wrong but I could have sworn that is what I have been told. I'm having one done in a month or two by DTE and I dont recall Phil saying it was a big deal.
The trans does not have to come out, go to a local tuner. They should do it for about 100-150.
I just went to Transgo's site and they say 3 hours with the trans installed. I still can't believe that dealer. If I let them do it it would be $12000, hahaha.
C5JOHNNY,
Man there are no tuners up here!!! Vette Docters is probably the closest, and they're in Long Island. I just might have to go there.
I had a local shop do mine. And they said they didn't have the space to do the servo sping on the outside of the trans. Which I think controls the 3/4 shift. So I had them drop the pan and do everything else. When I put the SS3800 converter in and 3.90 rear I did the servo spring myself. Also only took 6 hours to change converter and rear not a big deal.
You dont have to go to a tuner, any local trans guy familiar with the 4l60e should be able to do it for ya. Call around im sure youll find someone. Let us kno how you make out.

The install time will depend on the kit you buy, Std or HD, but no more than a couple of hours. The trans does have to come out. Find another installer
