Longtubes without doing tuning?
I am about to install a set of supermaxx headers but don't plan on getting tuning right away. Dynatech has told me it would be fine but I could pick up some extra hp with tuning. I will have cats and all 4 O2 sensors. Without special tuning will my car tend to run richer, leaner, or the same? Since you pick up hp with tuning I am guessing it will run richer with the stock tune which is o.k. with me. I just don't want it to run lean.

i have kooks long tubes without tuning...if a recall correctly, someone mentioned that having long tubes results richer fuel/air mixture...and i started getting codes meaning bad cats etc....i have a predator, and just played with it to make it 1 point leaner....now, no more codes....anyway i am gonna get the tune pretty soon....i am just observing & playing around....

I put longtubes on with stock cats. I had no tuning done and never threw codes. The PCM will tune itself after about 100 miles of driving. I had a dyno done right after the headers install and I pulled 325rwhp. A month later at a dyno day I pulled 337rwhp on the same dyno.
You should be fine-but tuning is the way to go, obviously
