Some of the seals can move back and forth on their tracks (so to say).
Also some of the tracks can bend inward and out ward.
For that vertical seal you mention, I recall there is one screw or push pin and one could insert some weather striping behind it as an experiment. Or bur a new seal.
However, make sure you have supple weather stripes (w/s) by applying die electric grease to them.
Lastly, most air leaks are solved with a window tip in adjustment. Search for the instructions. If you can remove a door panel you can do a tip in! Very easy.

mine leaks like crazy at the left front. I'm going to try the tip in method when I get a chance otherwise its going to a professional top shop. Just remember one thing, at least on my car, chances are, if you fix one leak on one side, you'll end up with a leak on the other side.
