Strange airbag problem
I have a 2000 C5. On hot days the airbag light stays on after I start the car. However as the A/C cools the interior it goes out again. On cold days it doesent stay on after starting.
This seems very strange to me, but the problem is consistent, everytime the car is hot inside the light stays on for 4-5 min until the a/c has cooled the car.
I had it to the shop, they said the coulden't find anything wrong, but still they "reprogramed" the "airbag-computer" to be on the safe side. However the problem is still the same.
Have any of you guys heard of this problem before? DO you thinks it's dangerous to drive around with? (airbag deploying while driving/not deploying in a crash)
As for your particular issue, I think there is a loose connection somewhere (I'm new to corvettes and forget how many airbags they are equipped with) to one of the airbags or other applicable sensors. To put you at ease, say the problem with your car was a missing Passenger airbag signal: Almost every Airbag system is designed to stay active as normal - with the exception of the faulty component. Good luck, hopefully that light will start staying on and storing a fault!
