I know they build the engines for the C5R and I've called them a year ago and checked them out. But I've never heard of anyone on the forum that has had a h/c package done by them. Has anyone on here and if so whats it like?
Katech is in the eastern "burbs" of Detroit. Was at there facility. They have a new monster CTS-V set up for sale. Did the work on the Indy Aurora mill and the C5R's as well. They are at the top of the list - great engineering.
I wish I could by their C5R engine but thats like $26,000. So I think I'll settle for a h/c package. I figured since they build the engines on the C5R and they are close to me I should find out some more info on them. So what type of numbers with their h/c?
You might check with Kelley at Wheel to Wheel in Madison Heights. A little closer to you. Tim Allen has started a new company of aftermarket CTS-V's. Wheel to Wheel did the engine on the new car.
In my open road car I have an all aluminum 396 (soon to be a 410) small block built by Katech. It came out of a Can-Am car. It is a 10.2 : 1 compression, small cam and runs well on pump gas but still makes 500rwhp. When you look at the internals someone has put a lot of time in this engine. It has a bunch of custom hand tooling done on it.
During the off season this winter we are incressing the hp by as above making it a 410ci, big cam, dome pistons approx 14 : 1, renovating the heads, new crank. My mechahanic/co-driver says we will have between 690-710rwhp when done. I hope he is right, but we will see.
