If not boosted or running juice is there any reason to run TR6's? I currently run TR55's and I am experiencing a rough cold idle start but that may be more due to tuning than the plugs. Anyone use both and have some real world experience to share?
I put in TR6s in my C5 because I needed a plug change badly when I was getting it dyno tuned (the OEM plugs were giving me 7 degrees of KR!) so I had no choice. After only 2000 miles and one bad traffic jam I developed a very slight miss at idle. Swapped them out for TR55s and all is well.
I ran TR6s for a while in my 98 LS1 Firebird too, and they fouled out badly in just 13k. The engine would misfire so bad above 5000 rpm at that point that I thought the fuel pump was toast.
Went to tr6 as per ngk tech suggestion, for detonation problems. Has been running fine, It idles great and always idled until oil hits 120-150 degrees. Maybe some idle issues are tuning related. No problems here will stay with a colder plug, I have a stock engine Ron B.
