built A/T?
I had a LS1 Z28 and currently have a 02 Silverado. I know GM performance stuff like the back of my hand. What I don’t know anything about is the drive train in the C5. I’m looking for a A/T C5 with the intent of building the crap out of it. I have heard the trans referred to as a 4L60 but it certainly can’t be the same as the front mounted trans in the F-body’s. Is it just a different case with more or less the same internals? Is the C5 trans any better than the Z28 4L60? With a 800+hp turbo motor, is a built Vette trans going to be a constant maintenance problem? I don’t mind having it rebuilt every 10,000mi if I have to, but if it burns up every trip to the track that’s no fun. What shop builds the strongest A/T’s for C5’s? Thanks.

With 800+ RWHP it will depend on how you drive your car whether you'll get 10,000 mles out of a built 4L60E. If you beat on it alot especially with sticky tires, I would not bet the ranch that it will last 10,000 miles.
FLP builds a great tranny, The VetteDoctors also build a great tranny, they built the tranny in "Major Sprays" 9 sec. C5.
