I get this warning message on my DIC after driving for about 10 minutes. The dealer has replaced the battery and the altenator. Does anyone have any ideas?

Let me guess, you have a pre 2001 MN6. and they put in what they think is the right alternator..
IN fact you have thre wrong alternator in your car.. there are teo or three threads open on this issue .. Bob at Ken Fichtner a forum vendor is looking for you,., I have Identified a problem with pre 2001 alternators and the New Alternator will not run in this car.. Ill post a link here shortly..You are not allone in this issue... here is just another smoke screen from GM a Quote from Bon " GM said they have had five or six issues on this subject..isnt it strange that . I regestered three complaints, and we have three other here and now you so with my three and the other two and now you thats 6 and that just in the last week..
and GM only has five or six issues. With 120,000 C5 borm before 2001, GM only has six issues and we have six issues right here on a forum that represents about 1000 C5 owners.. I think GM knows about alot more issues than this,..,

I just came across a used 2002 alternator that I was going to purchase as a spare. My 1998 coupe has 100,000 miles on it and I thought it might be a good investment. Is this problem just with the GM replacement alternators?
Evil Twin has been helping me out in this adventure. From what I have learned in the past week, the PCM in the pre-2000 C5s is set up for a 110 amp alternator, and when you put on a new 140 amp unit, it gets confused and throws a charge system fault message, even though everything is working OK. GM may come up with something on this or they may not. Check forum for the Fitchner Chev thread.
Good Luck
You have to have the latest GM program update for your particular car to recognize the newer version part replacement.
Please do Not post things you obviously know nothing about,,.,You cant use a post 2001 Flash in a pre 2001 car..
Dont come to this forum and post things to cloud the issue because this is what you think,,,
It is recommended that every year you should get the latest GM program update in 97 up to current date.. There are changes in fuel curves and other data yearly for every car based on fuel and other environmental and GM mechanical improvements. I think that you need to be reprogrammed and get up to speed or better yet.. just shut up.You haven't got a clue.
I got the Charge System Fault last night. But I just finished installing my LT Headers, so the first thing I thought was I burnt up a spark plug wire. They are fine. It may be the negative terminal on my battery is loose. I tightened it good though. Anyways the check engine light is on, so I need to go look and see what code it's throwing. Didn't mean to temporarily stray off subject, but when I got the message on the DIC, I kept close watch on all of the major things, oil, coolant, volts, and everything was fine, so I didn't worry about it.

Thanks for your intuitive lesson on what you should do with your car.. of course you are qualified to make this assertion. ?
You are right I am clueless when it come to a C5... I apologise.
Apology accepted.. The information I presented comes from a certified GM master technician. FYI every year it is recommended to have a program update. The OB II data that is entered may or may not cure the problem you are relating to. However the reprogramming by design is to update changes to models that GM has incorporated into later models. The newer higher amp alternators may not be recognized by an outdated (older version). I say that as a posible solution to this issue and if not resolved could be a last resort fix. GM holds programming information near and dear to their hearts and do not share it with us DIY people. Ford , and others make their updates available to the general public and if you have a laptop you can do your own updates yearly for about 20.00 a pop. You download to your PC and then upload to your car. Hope you all find the solution.Good luck
