can any body explain the differance between a zo6 and a c5 3.42 diff.
I have a C5 (97) and I want to purchase a new diff. when I looked up the prices it was $100 more for the C5 than the ZO6 ?/? I have read on here of other people using a ZO6 in a C5 is it OK to do??
That explains a lot. This question has come up before. Did you check to see what the total price of one vs the other is once shipping and handling are figured in? You'll notice that it cost $10.00 more to ship the standard C5 diff than the Z06 diff.

$187.00 shipping and handling is very steep. GM parts direct's pricing policies are odd, to put it mildly. I know of no one who has purchased a 3.42 diff from them.
I looked at this a while back and found that most of the other vendors charged more for the shot peened Z06 diff than the standard 3.42 diff. It is odd that one charges less for the Z06 diff than for the standard C5 3.42 diff. It is also odd that shipping at the same place is the better part of $200.00 for the part. I can fly down there and pick it up for less than that.
I have talked to them about shiping charges in the past an was told the S?H is a little shiping and a lot handling or profit the way they call it.
As long as the price is less than others in the end I guess they are still the best game around as long as parts are NEW IN BOX.
My biggest worry was fit. looks like I will go with the ZO6 if its the better one.
Have you guys tried calling your local Chevy dealer and see if they would price match, that way you do not have to pay shipping? Just a thought. Let me know if it works.
hey guys I couln't care any LESS what they charge for shipping and handling it's HOW MUCH you pay them that counts. If they want $0.09 for the rear end and $1000.% to get it to me , SO WHAT? Get over this shipping and handling thing -they have good prices, period.
Yeah, I see. Last dentist I saw wanted $1.00 to extract a tooth but the novacaine was $98.00. If I'd have brought my own novacaine it would have been a deal
If they only want $889.00 for it then I'd go and pick it up myself. Or have someone nearby pick it up for me.

Not only that but they pull fast ones just to keep an extra buck. I ordered a set of head gaskets from them (non special order item marked on their site) Then when i attempted to return the "unopened" package, they decided it is a special order item and denied my refund.
For 39.00 they lost another customer!
