So I finally got around to changing out my old (circa 2000) Hotchkis endlinks and got to looking at my replacements, the gold Hotchkis. Both my old Hotchkis links and the factory aluminum endlink studs have a base that stands the bar off from the joint a bit further than does the newer design. Here's a pic of all three side by side:
It looks to me as if the stud can't deflect all the way w/o binding. Is this a fearture or what? Here's a pic of the stud at full deflection:
And another with washer in place.
I peeked at Hotchkis' web site and see an image that shows eight little sleeves that I'm now wondering if I'm missing:
Did you get sleeves with yours? Worse yet is the description that the links in the image are an old design and the newer design (not pictured) has quieter operation. Yeah, I guess I wouldn't want those, please send me the old noisy style. I guess that makes the ones I'm pulling off the really old design.
Anybody have an image of a recently obtained endlink that's different from the one on Hotchkis' site?
Mine came with sleeves too!
I went down to their shop and talked to them and they told me to adjust the as short as they would go to clear but the sleeves did come with the end links. I would not even try and install them with out the sleeves.
Looks like you're missing the sleeves. They came with mine.
Ok...now I'm concerned!! (don't mean to hijack here)...but I just had the Hotchkis bars installed and my endlinks have grease fitting nipples ( I guess thats what you call them)....and I don't see them in any of the above pictures

Hmm . . . if you have zerks, that must be a new version or a one-off. I've never seen zerks on C5 Hotchkis bars.

Sorry for the ignorance but what are "zerks" (greasable joints)?
and "one-off" (doesn't sound good)? I paid good money at good tuner.....I assumed I was getting best performance parts.
I will take a picture if you want to see.
I am definately calling Hothkis tomarrow to see what they say and will post back
Zerks are grease fittings that the grease is injected through at a greasable joint. There are none on the C5 but you'll see them on suspension components of older cars and various machines that need periodic lubrication.

Post a pic and we can quickly put it to bed.
Just got off the phone with Hotchkis (very good/fast/knowledgeable support!)
I have the latest/greatest version of their endlinks. They are now using adjustable and greasable endlinks due to many complaints of noise and premature failure of the bushing (or lack of it) in the version you see currently on their website or the pictures in the above post.
If anyone wants to see ....... I will crawl under my car on saturday.
Hope this info is helpful. And good luck to you guys with the old version
Did they indicate how new these were? So I get an old part, and an incomplete one at that. Excellent!
Thanks for the follow up Macinamouth.
New enough that they haven't updated their website photo!
Also I personally looked at these at Andy's a week after the install and all the zerks were finger loose and one was completely missing!!!
So I think there may be a quality control issue over there
