Default 4L80E swap

With a bunch of custom work could a 4L80E be fitted to a C5? Could it be done for $10,000? Custom brackets and torque + output shaft I assume. Or is it just impossible, could never be done?

I am almost positive it can be done. In fact Yank Converters had a TH400 tranny for the C5 awhile back. I saw one installed in a C5, and it required ALOT of work to install. I am not sure how much it would cost but it would be a VERY expensive conversion. The VetteDoctors did the work on the car I mentioned. Give them a call and they can tell you what needs to be done, and how much it will cost.

I wouldn't think it'd be that big of a deal. I think the biggest problem would be the size of the tranny, it may interfere with the tunnel itself (It's bigger than the 4L60E). Other modifications would be fairly easy if necessary - shortening the torque tube/driveshaft, and getting it to work with a standalone tranny computer.

I bet it could be done for under 10k easily.

It's a real butcher job. I'd stay with a 4L65E if possible.

What is the difference between the 4L60E and the 4L65E? Isn't the 4L65E a beefed up factory version of the 4L60E?
