Default Upholstery question

The seats in my 99 coupe are showing a lot of wear after 46k miles. I read some tech articles saying that while under warranty there's a procedure to reinforce the padding in the seats.

Given that I'm no longer covered by waranty - what's the best method for reinforcing or replacing the seats? I'm not looking for anything exotic - just standard OEM seats. What do you suppose this would cost at an upholstery shop?

I went down to the local upholstery shop and purchased some rubber from them.the seats have a draw string which makes lifting up the cover very easy.I removed the seats because I didn't want to fight the cramped area.I cut the rubber with a pair of large scissors i had here.I slipped the new rubber ontop of the old rubber and it worked perfectly.I paid $ 15 for the piece of rubber and about 1 hour of my labor.Be careful removing the wires as if you pull the seat out with out removing the wires, you will have to do some wire repair.Easy mod to do .

Seat covers, plenty of vendors here have nice covers. Some even look like the stock material.

You can buy the leather and have your bolsters recovered!

The leather used by GM in the factory seats is not up to the task of long-term abuse, and the foam isn't the greatest, either. Thus, unless they are handled very gently, one or both will fail prematurely (i.e., as compared to most car seats) over time.

You can replace either or have a shop do it. From time to time, you can find used leather on the for sale section of the forum, as some owners up to upgrade theirs. You also can buy foam from a forum dealer or from forum vendor Vette Essentials.

Also, Vette Essentials has complete instructions/illustrations on the details of removing and recovering the seats on their website: link
