I have a 4.10 rear end from Corvettes of Houson that is in perfect working order with one exception. I'm led to believe the carrier is a 2 series carrier. Ive been working on a problem w/ my speedometer not being accurate until 50mph or so. I came to discover the reluctor ring for the speed sensor is offset to one side of the hole causing the inaccuracy. I need to have the carrier shimmed properly to center the reluctor ring in the speed sensor hole and have it resetup to keep it silent as it is now. I can ship it or hand deliver it, I just need to get it fixed without spending 1500+ on something I dont need. (hardened shafts etc).
BTW, I've already talked to DTE and they dont want to do the work.
As we have told you, the main reason why we don't want to get involved with this is because of the liability issues we would face by getting caught in the middle of trying to re-do what someone else has messed up already....
There is so MUCH more to setting up these differentials properly for HP use than just "shimming it over to make the speedo work", especially when their are known mis-matched components involved. If one tries to skimp to repair it properly, you'll wind up with other problems you don't want either. (whining, pre-mature failure, etc...)
The RIGHT way is not always the cheapest or easiest way to do something. If it was, everyone would be doing it...
We cannot understand why C.O.H. has ignored your emails and requests to make this right????? If they sold you a mis-matched, improperly built differential, they owe YOU some sort of compensation, not the other way around. Good luck with it.

I understand where you are coming from. When I say shimming it over, I realize its not that easy but thats the only way I can describe it based on other rear ends i've built for other solid axle cars. I also understand your company does take 2 series carriers and upgrades the gears in them so apparently safety isnt an issue if done right. I don't really need it to handle high HP, i just need it to be as silent as the stock one is. I If it breaks, my loss. Therefor If I can find someone who can setup a c5 diff and if necesarry machine spacers or whatever needs to be done, I will pay the appropriate fees. So long as it isnt nearly what a new one w/ beefed up components would cost me.
I dont know why they are not responding either, but i never even got a courtesey email saying tough luck from them. Its now been over a year since I purchased it so as you can see I just gave up on them.
