i dont want to start yet another exhaust thread, but we all love to talk about exhausts anyway, so, my question is not going to be which one is best, i have a couple of more specific questions.... I'm looking for a very deep sounding exhaust, but one that does not sound too throaty, rhaspy, or tin can like. Also i would like the system to be light and flow very well.
So here are my "requirements" in order of importance:
- flow
- sound
- weight
- quality
I've pretty much narrowed it down to B&B bullets and Borla Stingers. Which of the two is louder and which is more rhaspy? from listening to soundclips and reading the last thread related to this, i think the bullets are louder and rhaspier, which is not exactly what i'm going for.... Which other systems are worth looking at? Has anyone tried the hooker system? it sounds amazing on an f-body....
I would not get the B&B PRTs because they have a "throaty" sound. However, the quailty, weight, and flow of B&B is outstanding. The B&B bullets may be a good choice for the sound your looking for.
Had the 2 tip Borla Stingers (since removed and my factory Ti's back on). There is a slight difference in sound between the Borla 2 tip and 4 tip Stingers ( 4 tip aren't quite as raspy). In addition, the varibles on how a given exhaust will sound on your particular Corvette are many. Does the Corvette have LT Headers? if so what brand, is there an X-pipe? if so what brand, factory CATS or not (Pups and or mains could be removed/changed). I have heard many sound clips and then a Corvette in person with the same system and there was a world of difference!
My suggestion is narrow your search and then seek out a fellow Corvette Owner with the same level of options (or as close to) that you have and listen in person! My Stingers drove me crazy (drone in cabin) after almost 18 months due to my TPIS LT headers,Magnaflow X pipe and Pup Cat removals. At Corvettes at Carlisle I spoke with Borla directly and they informed me they didn't "support" the LT headers and Magna Flow set up! I asked them what does this mean and they inferred live with the noise and drone.
Actually, i dont even have a vette yet! im still shopping, but i also want to get my mod list ready. I dont have any plans for headers in the short term, but eventually would love to get some LTs (probably kooks since ive had good exp with them) and an x-pipe setup with high flow cats (probably RTs). I am also planning on having the cc 206/212 112 lsa cam slapped in there at ssome point.
I'm shocked about what Borla said that they dont "support" your setup, that is not a pleasant reply for a reputable company!
Where can i get some more info on the LAPD exhaust, i havent seen (or heard) any sound clips of that one....

Thanks for any input!
B&B Bullets put out about ten more RWHP as demonstrated in Vette Mag. in this months issue. Nothing really is any louder or deeper, unless you add headers! Bullets are within three pounds of the z's Ti system and quality is second to none including corsa which I feel are the highest quality in the aftermarket industry.
Ive heard some videos of the B&B bullets that sounded exactly what i'm looking for, then i also heard some that sounded way too rhaspy and crackly, so that threw me off a bit, but I guess that all depeneds on the individual setup (headers, cats, cam, etc)....
In general, on a stock car, which are louder, the stingers or bullets?
Also, is the LAPD system the same as the GHL system? on the LAPD site I noticed when you click on the GHL system it says LAPD/GHL....
i am personally leaning towards the bullets myself (with catted lg longtubes and x pipe), although just like you i am still looking for the perfect vette to set them up with, lol.
after doing some research i found out the LAPD system is actually not made by GHL as i thought, from what i read it is going to be available within a few weeks and will be 3". would love to hear it and see it before i decide though....
i know how you feel i myself just aquired my vette about 2 weeks ago and bought both exhaust and intake before purchasing the car based off of everyone elses opinions and had only sound clips from the internet to go by
in the end i got the borla 2 stinger 2 tips
Those are the clips that sold me as well! Have you installed yours yet? how do they sound on your car?
I think a lot of potential ccorvette buyers start planning their mods ahead, its kinda exciting! I have my cam already picked out, my springs arrived the other day, now its time for the exhaust, and then finally THE CAR!
my only complaint is i have something that sounds like its rubbing in the rear somewhere its only under slow accelaration that it does it
other than that sound is awesome very happy with them
I have new line of exhaust installed on my 04 VETTE and sounds great. Not to mention the workmenship and quality. The finish and material is the best I've seen. Go to www.arkspeedracing.com and search for corvette to see how it look. I was looking for the right system for about 3 month ans finally gave this system a try where my Vette became the first one to install this exaust. It looks and sounds great!! Highly recommend you to check it out if you are in shopping for the exaust.
