With high horsepower engines, especially when drag racing with slicks, the left side differential output shaft on the C5 Corvette should be replaced with the Lingenfelter heavy-duty output shaft. This heavy-duty shaft is produced from 4340 300M alloy steel to provide the strongest possible shaft design for high horsepower Corvette applications. This is a direct replacement for the left side output shaft. Right side shafts do not normally require replacement. For severe duty six speed applications the LPE heavy-duty main shaft is also recommended. LPE-LS1-100501

Other than being "heavy duty", what are the specific advantages of these units?

This is the advantage of the shaft, it is considerably less likely that you would break the HD shaft as compared to the factory GM shaft under these type of conditions, ie: drag racing with sticky tires.

Hope this answers your question.

Hello John.

That's a great price on the heavy-duty output shaft! I will take one. Can I order off your website or should I call in?

Thanks, Perry

how much for 4.10's with core exchange?

i have been waiting since August for my 4.10' and hardened output shaft, but since i live about 2 hrs away, this might be a better deal all the way around- as long as i do not have to wait 3 months

OK, I understand LPE's HD output shaft. But what's so special about these differentials.
Do they have a special reinforced or heaver case? Are the gears of higher quality or shot peaned Z06 gears or stock gears?
Are the limited slip clutches stock or better material. Stronger ring gear bolts? Will they hold up to big Horse Power and slicks, where stock differentials split apart?

Thanks, Curt

I guess the forum should be expecting a massive discount promotion to kick-off the new offering??
