Default Tire choice help.

Looking at replacing my run flats. Leaning towards Nitto 555 Extreme. Don't drive it much in the rain. Any better tire for dry traction out there? Doug

You might want to try checking over in the Wheels and Tires forum - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6

I know it seems strange, but discussing tire options is a popular topic over there.

Sure Doug. Upper left title bar on the "Forums" drop down and then "General Corvette" and then "Wheels and Tires". There's a lot of great info out there that I've used in the past when I was researching just what you are looking for. My first non-runflat tire was a set of BFG Gforce KD's (dry) that I used for road-track use and dry driving (I don't trailer the car or the tires). I found them a bit skittish on days where wetness surprised me but pretty good other than that. That was a few years ago, though, and there's been a number of tire enhancements since then. I've also got a set of '04 Z06 rims with stock tires that I use for the track right now till I burn them up - and then I'll be looking to see what's the latest and greatest (wondering what neato stuff the new C6-Z06/7 might unleash for us C-5 folk). Since you mention the Nittos I wonder if you are looking for something that has good hookup at the strip in which case in the same "General Corvette" dropdown you will see the "Drag Racing" selection as well. I'd suggest browsing through both of those fora and then posting some questions there. Good luck!

Go with Michelin Pilot Sport AS ZPs - they are Zero Presure (run flats)
You won't believe the ride and handling improvement over the Goodyears.
I drive alot (1999 with 135,000) - This is the BEST thing I ever did to the vette.
