Anyone ever installed a set of turndowns right after their X-pipe and got rid of their mufflers. Thinking about some that pointed down right before the axle.
I have seen a few differnet variations of what you're asking, including a set just after the axle shafts and before the mufflers. I've also seen custom straoght pipes that went straight out the back with a set of turndowns. Here's my set up. Mu mufflers are still intact though.
Be careful of that rear spring, they do not like extended high temperatures. I have seen cars lower themselves drastically when the
rear spring starts to overheat

That is one slick install , Patches is your car an A4? If so do you have a write up for this.
I have a set of turndowns right after the differential. It is extremely loud. I only run it that way for racing. The mufflers just slip back on with band clamps.
Ya, thats kinda what I had in mind Patches, now how loud is it...is it a nice muscle car sound (throaty), or is it offensively loud ?
"D"
It's loud, but not as loud as you'd think because I'm still running hi-flow cats. The sound is deep and throaty - race car-like. The cam is more pronounced and the lope is clearer. People notice when they're open. They actually have a lot less resonance than my two-tip Stingers had. Plus, I can close them anytime I need to go stealth, like when I pull into the sub-d at midnight.
Mine's an M6 but Xtrooper has an A4 with the same cutouts. I believe his are further back. I've seen a couple of other A4's with them as well.
My website shows when I put in the McCords but I've since switched to the QTEC's for their higher quality. Check out the videos near the end.
