My thoughts on thread locking...
I can't find stuff that works well enough to keep the nuts on my valve covers. I've used loctite blue, but they still come loose.

c5 tech? I got moved to c5 tech? How inappropriate. I'm not asking how to put painted plastic pieces on my engine, I'm talking about trying to hold down actual parts of the engine.

Loctite of any kind needs a clean surface....be sure you put the time in to make sure the threads are clean...

I believe your problem is oil on the threads. Throw your nuts in a can of degreaser.
Use lacquer thinner or a similar degreaser on both parts and #240 blue loctite before assembly or #290 after assembly.

Oh, I see. Yes, they are quite dirty. I'll be sure to degrease them. Thanks.

If you get the surfaces clean, do not use loctite Red or the bolts will need to be heated to loosen.
