Like already stated the headers/exhaust, Vararam, and tune are the only items that you will really see a gain with.
I would skip the air bridge unless you want it for looks. Instal the 160 degree thermostat before you go in for the tune. I highly recommend the short throw shifter for any 6 speed car.
If you are shooting for 400rwhp I would throw in a good cam/springs into the mix. Kaley
If this engine is stock, those headers will be too big. Been there done that. On my stock motor I removed the 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 step design I had and replaced them with 1 5/8. Made a big difference at the track. Bob
Your asking for over 100rwhp from just bolt ons and a tune, Its a bit of a strech. ITs a solid combo you have set up, but you wont see those increases, I would say you might see a 40 rwhp increase at the most
Here are the mods that I have been looking at recently:
1) Kooks 1 7/8" LTs
2) Kooks X-pipe w/ super high-flow cats
3) Stinger duel-tip exhaust system
4) Vararam ram air intake
5) MTI carbon-fiber air bridge
6) Dyno tune
7) 160 degree thermostat
8) Hurst short-throw shifter
9) Z06 clutch
With these mods, I think I'll make over 400 rwhp, run 12's in the 1/4, and get over 30 mpg on the HW.
Hopefully, the cost of parts, shipping, and instillation will cost no more than $5,000.
What do you think?
I'm open to all suggestions (anything you would remove or change? Any better parts or brands?).
If you have an LS1 engine that is stock you are looking at best 340 rwhp and worst around 320 rwhp. You will most likely be running high 12s to low 13s depending on weather.
I recommend the Dynatechs. They are a very nice header. Nice quality and everything bolts together perfectly. We use the Dynatechs on almost every C5 that comes in here. We do use the KOOKS on large cube motors. Kaley
