At part throttle i get this annoying whistle. It is not terribly loud but is extremely annoying none the less. Its coming from the from the engine bay. Doesnt really seem to go up or down in scale according to rpms, just a steady whistle.
Nice write up and thanks for the replys guys. I will check out to see if its only around 2500rmps. Funny thing is that the dealership just had the intake manifold off to replace the Oil Pressure sensor and i previously did not have the whistle. hmm.
Bill's response is correct...I have had the same whistle (around 2,200-2,400 RPMS) since new when the outside temps drop into the mid 40s...it's the intake plenum...lots of '01s experience this.
I have the same sound. I whiched over to the LS6 manifold last year. I didnt notice it with the top down in the summer, but have noticed it in the last month or two with the top up. Ill live with it because it's not that bad. I thought there was a TSB on the noise and it was associted with a cracked intake manifold.
I had the same whisle on my 01 vert. It turned out to be the Alternator. The dealer replaced it under extended warenty. Now it is quiet as a church mouse.
