My C5 has the breathless intake and B&B exhaust, NO computer tweaks have been done to my knowledge (I'm the second owner). I was told that the intake upgrade is sort of usless without a performance MAF upgrade. Am I being mislead? I really have NO engine tech. knowledge or mechanical ability so I have to depend on other people to give me advice.
If I do need to have this installed can you guys give me a short list of Corvete forum approved MAF's? I'm not a racer, I just want the aftermarket parts I have to work at there optimal potential.
I wouldn't waste the time in the MAF upgrade. When I first got my vette that was one of the first things I looked to upgrade too but the fact is that the stock MAF can flow enough to support sometihng like over 700 HP. Changing MAF's and descreening MAF's may have the effect of leaning the engine out a bit which could be good or bad depending on how your engine is running now. A MAF translator may be more up your alley.
If you're still set on getting a MAF I would recommend SLP.
I spoke to Russ Collins, owner of RC Engineering and he drives a Vette. He stated to there wasn't any advantage in opening up the MAF as there is enough air flow to support the engine.I am sure Russ will be happy to take your money if you are adament about doing the mod,but don't expect any great miracle.it won't happen.
Hey thanks guys...I've made a couple of phone calls since I posted this and I keep hearing the same thing..."Don't waste your time and money". So I'll put that idea out of my mind. I have more aggravating things to worry about right now anyway...rattling exhaust and that damn rear end clicking noise that I've just starting putting money into with no sucess. Ordering new sway arms and bushings...hoping the clicking will go away.
Thanks for the advice....
